Shockofgod preaches what’s said in the bible
By Collin Maessen on commentVentures Into Scepticism
Real Sceptic has its origins as a companion site for the videos produced by Collin Maessen. The site has progressed beyond this original purpose and now predominantly includes articles that are independent of the content released on YouTube. However this original content is still an important part of the site.
This page serves as an archive for videos produced and released on YouTube. You can find full transcripts, source listing and used media files for the videos. We are currently in the process of transcribing all the audio.
Please note that the first nine videos are of a substantial lower quality than videos that were produced after these. As these first nine videos were as much, and in some case more, about learning to edit videos and learning how to tell a story in sound and images.
Video description
When I hear people say "I preach what's in the bible, and it's says what you are doing is wrong" I always wonder why pick that part? As there are verses that contradict it or verses people do not take literally or just ignore.
The only reason I've seen so far is that those verses support their world view and they ignore the parts of the bible that don't fit their views.

Intro: We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love each one another.
ShockOfGod: The christian videos that I do where I read the bible, and I say things like hey the bible says homosexuality is a sin. You know I just say it. I say hey the bible says Jesus Christ is the son of God, there is no way to the Father but through him. I just say it. So people don't like that in the year 2010 you would go ahead and you would have the nerve to preach the bible.
Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel. - 1 Peter 2:18
Do you preach slavery, as it is allowed by the bible?
...the nerve to preach the bible.
Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death. - Exodus 21:17
Do you preach that children should be put to death if they curse or harm their parents?
...the nerve to preach the bible.
Whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Isreal should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. - 2 Chronicles 15:13
...entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods ... thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death... - Deuteronomy 13:6-10
Do you preach that we should kill unbelievers and followers of other religions?
...the nerve to preach the bible.
A woman Shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God. - Deuteronomy 22:5
Do you preach that women who wear pants are abominations?
...the nerve to preach the bible.
If a man lies with a male as a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives. - Leviticus 20:13
You preach that homosexuality is a sin, as the bible says it is.
Do you preach that homosexuals should be killed, as this is the punishment the bible states for it?
...the nerve to preach the bible.
It's not the fact that you preach that people object to it.
The reason people object to your preaching is that you pick from the bible passages that fit your views, ignoring other parts, or interpreting them literally, or not, when it suits you.
Instead of being so judgemental towards us unbelievers, it might be more productive to follow the advice your bible gives you.
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. - 1 peter 3:15
God bless you guys, maranata. Remember guys, ShockOfGod, accept no imitation.
